My background is in marketing & communications, publishing, and design. I worked at The Merchandise Mart in Chicago, the Washington Design Center in D.C., and the A& D Building in NYC (all for MMPI, Inc.) in commercial and residential interior design marketing. I roamed the showroom floors for years, crafted plans to gain market exposure and advertising, and also planned a fair amount of industry events to draw interior designers, architects, and trade personnel to the showrooms.  After this experience, I worked at a non-profit association marketing literary and library programs. This entailed writing, designing, layouts, photo shoots, etc. to perfect a look for catalogs, the web site, and advertisments in addition to posters, wearable goods, and the READ posters of celebrities you see in any library.

Even as a child, I use to redecorate my room, rearrange the living room furniture (when permitted), and thought nothing of ever changing and organizing my personal and work spaces. Doesn't everybody color code their work and keep fabric swatches on their bulletin board? Apparently not, and that's how it all started.
